Chiefs Make Seven Changes Against Chippa

After a tough couple of days for Kaizer Chiefs after losing one of our players, Luke Fleurs, the team is in action this afternoon against Chippa United.

Amakhosi are in East London after many years and the supporters have responded by purchasing all the tickets that were made available for the match this afternoon.

Chippa are beaming with confidence and looking for another win after their 2-0 victory against Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday. Chiefs, on the other hand, have decided to honour the fixture as players want to win and dedicate the 3 points to their fallen comrade, Fleurs.

On the log Chiefs, have dropped down to position eight after 22 matches, with 30 points collected. Chippa are in 11th position, with 26 points after 22 games.

Coach Cavin Johnson has implemented seven changes to the team. In defence Njabulo Ngcobo will replace S’fiso Hlanti and Zitha Kwinika makes way for Dillan Solomons. In midfield, Yusuf Maart returns to take Sibongiseni Mthethwa’s place, Edson Castillo is in for Siyethemba Sithebe, and Mduduzi Mdantsane takes Mduduzi Shabalala’s spot. Finally, in attack, Ashley Du Preez is replaced by Christian Saile and Ranga Chivaviro is in for Wandile Duba.

The Glamour Boys will play their 4-3-3 formation.

Bruce Bvuma keeps his position as the goalkeeper.

He will be protected by Edmilson Dove at left-back, Njabulo Ngcobo and Given Msimango at the centre of defence, and Solomons on the right hand side of his back four.

Holding the midfield will be Maart. Amakhosi will have Castillo and Mdantsane slightly in front of him.

Launching the attack will be Pule Mmodi on the left wing and Saile running on the right flank. Leading the attack is striker Chivaviro.

Maart will reclaim the captain’s armband.

Match officials are referee Christopher Kistoor. His assistant referees are Lalelani Mngadi and Xolani Hlatshwayo. The fourth official will be Xolani Sitela.

This DStv Premiership clash dedicated to the late Luke Fleurs between Amakhosi and the Chilli Boys commences at 15:00 at Buffalo Park Stadium in East London. The sold-out match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
