After opening their CAF Confederation Cup group stage campaigns in Egypt on Match-Day 1 in November, Kaizer Chiefs and Al Masry meet again in the penultimate round in Group D at the New Peter Mokaba stadium.
It is a big fixture with a lot riding on it as both teams sit on seven points, with two more rounds to go in the group stages. A victory for Amakhosi by more than a one-goal margin will secure qualification for the knockout phase regardless of the final round results, as they will have a superior head-to-head record against Al Masry. The converse will be true if Al Masry win.
Dillan Solomons, Zitha Kwinika, Lebohang Maboe, Pule Mmodi and Glody Lilepo are all back in the line-up to replace Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Given Msimango, Mduduzi Shabalala and Gaston Sirino, who started Wednesday’s Nedbank Cup match against Stellenbosch in Cape Town.
The Glamour Boys will line up in a 3-4-3 formation.
Brandon Petersen is the goalkeeper.
The back three sees Aden McCarthy positioned on left, Msimango in the centre and Kwinika on the right.
Maboe and Siphesihle Ndlovu are in the centre of midfield, and will be flanked by Solomons on the right, with Mmodi on the left.
In attack, Mduduzi Shabalala and Lilepo will link up with Flavio Da Silva.
The referee is Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea. He will have Roland Nii Dodoo Addy and Paul Kodzo Atimaka as his assistants. The fourth official is Charles Benle Bulu Ghana. All the match official hail from Ghana.
Kick-off this afternoon’s CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash between the Glamour Boys and the Al Masry will commence 15:00 at the New Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane.
The match will be live on SABC 1 and SuperSport channel 209 on DStv and most SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
