After launching their new kit for the season, Kaizer Chiefs will set off for Spain this evening, where they will spend 10 days in Alicante as part of their pre-season training programme. The camp is designed to prepare the squad for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign with a mix of intensive training sessions and competitive fixtures against international opposition.
The team will be stationed in Alicante, a bustling coastal city known for its Mediterranean climate. Chiefs will utilise top-class facilities, taking advantage of the warm European weather to build fitness and cohesion ahead of the new season.
As part of the tour, Amakhosi will play three matches against clubs from different footballing regions:
- Rangers FC (Scotland) - 12 July
- The opening fixture will be played behind closed doors against the Scottish giants.
- Al Kholood (Saudi Pro League) – 15 July
- Chiefs will then face the Saudi side in a match open to the public.
- Elche CF (Spain, La Liga) – 18 July
- The tour concludes with a clash against the Spanish top-flight club, also open to supporters.
These fixtures will provide a stern test of Coach Fernando da Cruz’s team’s readiness by exposing the squad to different styles of play and levels of competition.
Following the Spanish tour, the Glamour Boys will return home to continue preparations. Their first assignment after returning will be the Toyota Cup match against Zimbabwean giants Scottland FC in Rustenburg on 26 July, which offers another competitive opportunity before the domestic season begins in earnest.
